Matthew Gold

Matt Gold (BA, with distinction, '13, Political Science and Communication, minor: Leadership Studies; JD, magna cum laude, '16) is a Trial Attorney with the United States Department of Justice's Antitrust Division.  Before that, he completed clerkships with Judge Marvin Aspen and Magistrate Judge Sunil Harjani in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, and litigated at McGuireWoods LLP. A 2012 Homecoming Court member and a Senior 100 Honoree, Matt Gold participated in numerous organizations as a student. Among those included serving as a senator in the student government and volunteering on various committees like the Women's Resources Center's Advisory Council, the University's Investment and Licensing Advisory Committee, the Student Legal Services Advisory Board that he chaired, and the College of Law's Disciplinary Committee. He also worked as a tutor for Athletics. Matt is an engaged member of the Illini community and visits campus every year, and frequently attends Chicago Illini’s watch parties. Matt recently served as a member of the Illinois College of Law Alumni Board. He also sits on the board of the Jewish United Fund/Jewish Federation of Chicago's Young Leadership Division and Just the Beginning Foundation. In his free time, Matt judges various high school debate tournaments.
