f you love to discover new voices in literature, treat yourself to an evening of dazzling readings in one of Chicago's most exciting art galleries.

Join the staff of Ninth Letter, StoryQuarterly, and Other Voices in celebrating the literary arts with readings and a reception for some of Chicago's freshest voices. You will hear emerging authors Carolyn Alessio, Joe Meno, and Stephanie Soileau.

  • Carolyn Alessio is the editor and translator of Las Voces de Esperanza/The Voices of Hope (Southern Illinois University Press, 2003). Her work has appeared in Ninth Letter, StoryQuarterly, Quarterly West, and Antioch Review.
  • Joe Meno's most recent book is the critically acclaimed novel Hairstyles of the Damned (Punk Planet Books, 2004).
  • Stephanie Soileau has published fiction in StoryQuarterly and Gulf Coast, and has a story forthcoming in Best New Stories of the South.

Guests are welcome to tour the gallery's displays of contemporary art and photography.
Complimentary wine and hors d'oeuvres will be served.

The event coincides with the release of the May 2005 issue of the Ninth Letter, which is published by the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and the College of Fine and Applied Arts and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
