Objectives

The 14-week Inclusive Pedagogy Certificate Program is a hybrid (in-person and online) experiential learning community designed to equip faculty and instructors with practical, research-based strategies for teaching diverse undergraduate and graduate student populations.

Through interactive workshops, dialogue, applied activities, and reflective practice, participants strengthen their capacity to design inclusive courses and cultivate equitable classroom environments.

Participants develop expertise in:

  • Examining the role of implicit and explicit bias in teaching and learning
  • Navigating classroom power dynamics, particularly as they relate to women faculty, LGBTQI+ faculty, international faculty, and faculty of color
  • Advancing accessibility in classroom practices and course materials
  • Designing inclusive syllabi, assignments, and course policies
  • Managing classroom conflict and facilitating discussions around socially complex or difficult topics

Format

The course consists of weekly Friday hybrid (in-person and online) workshops, intensive discussions from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Lunch will be provided during in-person meetings.

Throughout the course, participants will design or revise a syllabus or course materials to be implemented during the following academic year. Participants will also be expected to contribute to the program’s assessment and evaluation process.

All required books and instructional materials will be provided, along with long-term access to online resources. Participants will join an inclusive pedagogy learning community and will receive a digital certificate upon successful completion of the program.

In recognition of their engagement in the program, participants will receive a $6,000 stipend to support instructional planning and participation.

“The facilitators are wonderful, and I have learned so much from them. And the guest speakers are talented, thoughtful, and inspiring."

"I thought all of the speakers did a great job—I was engaged with each session and took something away from each meeting. I felt included, and it seemed that others did as well.
