What to expect
Four years, one goal: Making LAS even better for students
As a LAS VOICE member, you’ll:
- Share feedback through surveys, focus groups, and discussions.
- Offer insights that help improve the student experience.
- Connect with other engaged students and college leadership.
- Serve as ambassadors for student voice and inclusion in LAS.
Students join LAS VOICE during their second semester as freshmen and remain active through graduation. Throughout your time in the program, you'll explore specific themes structure to build on each other—and help increase your impact in LAS.
Discovery
You’ll kick off the program by getting oriented to LAS VOICE and learning how student feedback drives change. Take part in your first feedback session, attend a welcome event with LAS leadership, and receive your VOICE welcome kit and official swag.
Engagement
Join surveys and focus groups, attend optional leadership workshops, and connect with students and leaders across LAS. Along the way, you’ll see how student input shapes decisions—and receive LAS apparel, too.
Leadership
You’ll mentor newer LAS VOICE members, contribute to the design of feedback questions, and help guide conversations about the student experience. Your contributions will be recognized across LAS, including through features in college publications.
Legacy
Leave your mark on the College of LAS. You’ll complete a capstone project tied to your interests, present it to LAS leadership, and celebrate your impact at a senior recognition event and by graduating with distinction.

Applicants should be second-semester LAS freshmen who are excited to make a difference through all years of their Illinois journey.

- Peer nomination – Nominate a friend who leads with curiosity and initiative
