The ceremony recognizes August 2022, December 2022, May 2023, and August 2023 Communication graduates. It will include hooding candidates for the Ph.D. degree and calling all participating graduates to the platform in recognition of their academic achievement. Photographs will be taken of candidates as they receive their diploma covers and cross the stage. The ceremony lasts for approximately 90 minutes.

Day of the ceremony

Graduates should arrive to LEVEL 2 of the Krannert Center by 12:15 p.m. dressed in regalia. There is no rehearsal, so please arrive promptly to check in at the Orchestra Rehearsal Hall. You will be directed by marshals to your place in line.

Seating is limited within Foellinger Great Hall. The Krannert Center requires all guests to have a ticket, including babies and toddlers. We guarantee up to 6 tickets for each student. Additional tickets are not guaranteed and will be determined based on availability closer to the ceremony.

 

 

Academic regalia

A cap and gown are required to participate in the Communication Convocation. Herff Jones provides custom rental academic attire for all graduates. Students should order online at http://colleges.herffjones.com/college/illinois/ by Tuesday, April 11 at 10:00 p.m. (CT) to take advantage of the early order discount. Photographs

Photographs will be taken during the ceremony by GradImages.

Special accommodations

Contact Patron Services at Krannert Center for the Performing Arts at least one (1) week prior to the ceremony. An advanced reservation is the ONLY way your entire party will able to be seated together in our accessible seating areas. Any unclaimed reservations will be forfeited two (2) minutes before the ceremony begins.

Please be prepared to provide the following information:
1. Which commencement you are attending
2. Specific accessibility need(s)
3. How many people there are in the party
4. A contact person in the party.


When you arrive, you will need to indicate that you have a reservation under this name.
