Please read these instructions carefully to ensure that your graduation day goes smoothly.
If you are receiving either your undergraduate degree from the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences during the summer or fall terms or your master's degree from a unit affiliated with LAS, you are invited to participate in LAS Winter Convocation. If you do not wish to participate in the winter ceremony, you may participate in the spring ceremonies. The Office of the Chancellor will send information for the May ceremonies to your local address on file in February directing you to go to commencement.illinois.edu.
Student must register to participate in the ceremony in order to request tickets.
You will be able to pick up these tickets in person in Lincoln Hall. Extra tickets will also be distributed at that time on a first-come, first-served basis.
If you reside outside of the Champaign-Urbana area, please indicate this in the comment section of the registration form. Your information and tickets will be mailed to you. All guests, regardless of age, need a ticket. Degree candidates do not need tickets.
Regalia is required for you to participate in the ceremony. Order your regalia online through Herff-Jones.
Regalia is returned immediately following the ceremony at the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts' Studio Theater.
Personalized graduation announcements may be purchased through the Illini Union Bookstore, 809 S. Wright St., Champaign, Herff-Jones, or a print or copy shop of your choice.
- Krannert Center for the Performing Arts, Foellinger Great Hall
- 500 S. Goodwin Ave.
Urbana, IL 61801
- (217) 333-6700
If family members or guests require special assistance, please contact Krannert Center's Patron Services at (217) 333-9716 no later than two days before the ceremony for information on parking locations, special seating, and accessible entrances.
Students are asked to report at 9:15 a.m. the day of the ceremony to Level 2 of Krannert Center.
The LAS Winter Convocation will begin with a procession of faculty and graduating students in academic regalia. Your name will be read as you cross the stage to receive your diploma cover. There is a brief address to graduates and guests, and finally, a recession to the lobby.
A professional photographer, GradImages®, will take pictures of you as you receive your diploma cover from the dean of the college.
Previous years' photos are available to view and order by visiting www.gradimages.com. Simply enter your last name and use "University of Illinois" as your school name. Then, select your graduation year from the dropdown menu. Once you see your name, click on the link to view your photos. If you need additional help to locate your photos, call GradImages’ customer service department at (800) 261-2576 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
Because it is not possible to process grades and prepare degree lists by the day of the convocation, diplomas will be mailed to graduates sometime in mid-February.
Please go into the UI Integrate Self-Service application and enter or update your diploma address, which is the address the university will use for mailing your diploma.
- If the diploma is returned to the Office of the Registrar, you will be responsible for providing the correct address and paying for any forwarding mail charges, as well as a processing fee.
- If your diploma is not returned to the Office of the Registrar, you will be responsible for providing the correct address and paying for the cost of the replacement diploma.
An email from the Office of the Registrar will be sent to all potential graduates approximately three weeks before convocation asking them to verify their name and address and make corrections if necessary.
If you have any questions, please email email@example.com.
