Read these instructions carefully to ensure that your graduation day goes smoothly.
Eligibility
Students receiving an undergraduate degree from the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences or a master’s or doctoral degree from a unit affiliated with LAS during the summer or fall terms are invited to participate in LAS Winter Convocation. Students who choose not to participate in the winter ceremony may instead participate in the spring ceremonies. For more information about the spring ceremonies, visit commencement.illinois.edu.
Registration
Registration is required to participate in the ceremony and is separate from declaring your intent to graduate. Being on the pending degree list does not automatically register you for LAS Winter Convocation.

Photographs
A professional photographer, GradImages®, will take pictures of graduates as they receive their diploma cover from the dean of the college. Photos from this and past ceremonies can be viewed and ordered at www.gradimages.com. For assistance, contact GradImages at (800) 261-2576 or giservice@gradimages.net.
Your diploma
Diploma names are displayed on diplomas and used in the Commencement program, graduate lists, and related press releases. Examples include using a middle name instead of a first name, shortening a name (Tom instead of Thomas), choosing an Americanized name (Wendy instead of Haiyan), or using a name that reflects your ethnic, racial, or gender identity.
To create or update a diploma name, email the Office of the Registrar and include your UIN. Please be aware that in some cases, the name on your diploma may need to match other legal documents.
It is not possible to process grades and prepare degree lists by the day of the convocation. Therefore, diplomas will be mailed approximately nine weeks after the conferral date.
For more details or to update your diploma mailing address, please visit the Office of the Registrar’s graduation webpage.
