Meeting with your advisor

advisorOne of the most important lessons I have learned in the past two years is communication.  Keeping in contact with your classmates, professors, and most importantly, advisers, is crucial to succeeding here on campus.

I like to meet with my adviser at least once a semester. We go over how my classes are going, what I’m thinking about taking next semester, and most importantly, how I’m doing on my graduation requirements. My adviser has helped me space out my classes over four years and is making sure I complete all of my general education requirements and that I’m succeeding in my major. Advisers are great for all sorts of questions, and keeping a good relationship to them is key to doing well here at U of I!
