Join us for LAS Discovery Day on Sept. 23

The beginning of the fall semester is one of my favorite times of year.

ERICA EVILLAStudents are getting settled into their new routine, student organizations have tables with swag and free snacks stationed around the quad, and I-Stars are giving tours to new prospective students and their guests. Everyone has this extraordinary amount of contagious energy.

What better way to be immersed in all of this campus excitement, than to join us for LAS Discovery Day, which is next Sunday, Sept. 23! Online registration is still open.

It's our biggest fall-semester event, and it's aimed at seniors in high school who might be interested in applying to Illinois. It allows students to get a hands-on look at what it means to be a part of the LAS community.

This year, we're introducing a design thinking activity. Students will be broken up into smaller groups and be given an introduction to design-thinking methodology, all while completing a creative project.

We're also hosting three fantastic faculty presenters to give students and their guests. They'll give mini-lectures, so you can experience what classrooms at Illinois are like.

IkenberryWe'll take our lunch break at the Ikenberry Commons, the largest dining facility on campus. Students and guests will be accompanied by current LAS student leaders and volunteers, who will offer their perspective on their experience here at Illinois. Then, we'll have a resource fair - more than 20 different department representatives there to give you all the information you need to know about your major interests, as well as study abroad and career development.

We'll conclude the event with a short admissions presentation and an optional campus and residence hall tour hosted by our campus I-Stars.

LAS Discovery Day is by far, the best way for any high school senior to get a glimpse of what it is like to be a part of our exciting and innovative community. We hope to see you there!
