Programs
Explore your program options using the My Study Abroad platform. You can use the "Program Discovery" feature to find programs based on a simple keyword search or use the advanced search feature to narrow down options based on your academic area, country of interest, language requirements, and more.
You can find a list of all programs administered by LAS—most of these programs are residential, meaning students can receive LAS advanced hours and residency credit for coursework abroad. Some programs offered by other colleges (ACES, Gies, Grainger, etc.) may allow LAS students to apply.
LAS By Petition Only Programs
LAS students may petition through the college to participate in and receive credit for a study abroad program that is not currently approved by the University of Illinois. Students must demonstrate that the program meets a curricular need not offered by existing programs.
Examples of recently approved programs include:
- University of Michigan Research Semester at CERN (physics)
- Noor Majan Arabic Institute
- ICLP National Taiwan University
If you would like to start the petition process, you must first schedule an advising appointment with Victoria Prince and complete a non-approved study abroad petition form.
The deadline to complete the petition process coincides with the regular study abroad application cycle deadlines:
- Feb. 15 for Summer, Fall, and Academic Year programs
- Sept. 15 for Spring and Calendar Year programs
Questions? Please schedule an appointment with a LAS International Programs Advisor or email us at las-studyabroad@illinois.edu.
Application deadlines
- Feb. 15 for fall and academic year programs
- Sept. 15 for spring semester programs (June 15 for early application)
Scholarship opportunities
