Information for faculty working with international programs and partners

Are you a faculty member who is interested in creating and leading an LAS abroad program? Faculty are welcome to work with the LAS International Programs staff to do so.

Developing and managing faculty-led courses abroad

LAS faculty who are interested in developing and leading a new course abroad are strongly encouraged to meet with LAS International Programs staff as well as their unit's executive officers to discuss their proposed course before submitting a proposal.

After your meeting, we encourage you to look at additional information for developing and managing a study abroad course.

International partnerships and agreements

LAS faculty and units who wish to establish a new international agreement should first consult with their unit and LAS Dean Designee. All international agreements must then be routed through Illinois International’s Global Relations & Agreements office for review and processing.

Developing and managing LAS Residential study abroad programs

LAS International Programs works closely with academic units to administer semester-length study abroad programs that offer students LAS residential credit and advanced hours towards the degree. Units provide academic oversight for these programs to ensure course offerings are equivalent to those offered on campus.

Global Classrooms

LAS provides course development grants and training for faculty who wish to transform an existing course into a global classroom. Instructors, working with a partner abroad integrate collaborative international learning experiences, facilitated by technology, between your students and students from international partner institutions.
