Information for faculty working with international programs and partners
LAS International Programs works closely with faculty and staff to develop international programs and global learning initiatives. Developing and managing faculty-led courses abroad
LAS faculty who are interested in developing and leading a new course abroad should meet with LAS International Programs staff as well as their unit's executive officers to discuss their proposed course before submitting a proposal.
See our Faculty + Staff Guide for detailed resources and the course proposal form.
International partnerships and agreements
LAS faculty and units who wish to establish a new international agreement should first consult with their unit and Mark Beirn, Director of International Programs. All international agreements must then be routed through Illinois International’s Global Relations & Agreements office for review and processing.
Developing and managing LAS-sponsored study abroad programs
LAS International Programs works closely with academic units to administer semester-length study abroad programs that offer students LAS residential credit and advanced hours towards the degree. Units provide academic oversight for these programs to ensure course offerings are equivalent to those offered on campus.
Global Classrooms
LAS provides course development grants and training for faculty who wish to transform an existing course into a global classroom. Instructors work with a partner abroad to integrate collaborative international learning experiences, facilitated by technology, between Illinois students and students from international partner institutions.
