The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (LAS) offers comprehensive support for international students, including dedicated academic advising, career support, global experiential learning and study abroad resources, as well as robust student groups, well-being activities, and counseling support. LAS International Programs provides specialized opportunities like the Global Leaders Program, International Student Advisory Board (ISAB), and LAS 100 College Success for International Students for newly admitted first-year international students.

Classes to help international students succeed

LAS International Programs offers LAS 100: Success in LAS for International Students, a class to help international degree-seeking students succeed. Get more information about LAS 100.

LAS 199 Internship: With Concurrent Course Enrollment is designed to support students with a zero-credit internship class as they apply for CPT (Curricular Practical Training) through ISSS. Get more information on LAS 199.

LAS 289 Internship, No Concurrent Course Enrollment is a zero-credit undergraduate internship course, with a reduced tuition model especially designed to support students engaged in internships who are not concurrently enrolling in other Illinois classes.

Through academic advising, we promote inclusive dialogue, recognize diverse experiences, encourage students to design their life and career, and to take responsibility for their success.

International Student Advisory Board (ISAB) 

The only college-level international student advisory board, LAS ISAB is a student-led consultative body within the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences at the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign. ISAB aims to enhance inclusivity and support for international students within LAS, offering workshops and hosting an annual dinner with the Dean of LAS. Global Leaders Program (GLP)  

GLP is a dynamic experience designed to give students real-world practice in innovative problem-solving, cross-cultural communication, and human-centered consulting throughout their undergraduate career.
